Ali Baksh Jarnail

Ustad Ali Baksh (1850-1920) was an Indian classical singer. Together with Fateh Ali Khan, he founded the Patiala Gharana. This gharana is claimed to combine the musical traditions of Delhi gharana, Gwalior Gharana and Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. The gharana has many notable pupils including Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Malika Pukhraj and Gauhar Jan. Ustad Ali Baksh Khan regularly sang with Fateh Ali Khan. Before the partition of India they were the court musicians in Patiala. Ali Bakash had one son, Ustad Akhtar Hussain.
